When organizing a garage (or any other room) always look to the ceiling. The space at the top of a room is always the most underutilized. Whenever you can, use this unused space to your advantage. As a professional garage organizer, that's where I begin my task of maximizing customer's storage space.
The space up by the ceiling in your garage, and especially the space above your garage door, is free storage space. To harness this space, use overhead storage racks. Overhead racks always offer the biggest "bang for the buck" when it comes to garage storage. They are cheaper than cabinets, and do not compete with valuable floor space. A two car garage can accomodate 2 to 4 full-size storage racks.
Overhead storage racks have an additional advantage: they can be used to store harmful chemicals and pesticides that normally might be within the reach of tiny hands. |
